Maternity Fashion doesnt have to be bland & frumpy!
When I was expecting Grace I found Maternity shopping so hard! I didnt know where to start and what would suit my figure, I emded up buying loose fitting dresses in Primark and New Look and I think possibly two maternity brad and one dress from BooHoo which was see through when stretched over my 39 weeks bump! Awful! No wonder theres barely any photos of me with a Grace bump! Its hard to comapare both pregnancies and bumps because I never liked my photo taken with Grace because I never felt comfortable but this time im embracing it, Im chubbier and more swollen but I dont care, I dont plan on more babies after this two beautiful children is enough for us so I decided to make the most of it! I have teamed up with some amazing clothing brands to show how Maternity wear does not have to be Frumpy, plain or covering up!
Firstly heres some Beautiful dresses I got from F&F tesco after kindly being sent a gift voucher, I decided to chose normal dresses not maternity and tried them on first t see which were flattering and comfortable around my growing bump, Here are my Top 2! The mustard dress made it to Rome on my Babymoon break and looked and felt amazing’ it was so comfortable even in 40 degree heat queing to go inside the colloseum and at a very affordable £20!
The second Dress was also £20 and feels so flattering and floaty perfect for the summer months and its pretty! I got a size 12 in both dresses (pre pregnancy size 10) so I was made up with this Considering some dresses I tried on in other stores I needed a 14 and even then they didnt fit my small shoulders and looked abit silly.
The second lovely brand to help me out was Matalan, They kindly sent a vpucher also.so again I could try on and choose the best dresses to suit my curvy figure and 25 week bump! I chose a beautiful Orange, think bardot style dress that is so light and floaty It was real life saver in the recent hot weather and more importantly it was true to size and complimented my bump and only £14!!!
Secondly I chose a Maxi Dress that I could dress up or down depending on the occasion, This one I did get in a 14 go last me all summer as I fell in love! It was on offer for just £16 at the time too!
So thats the non maternity items Ive chosen and found that really compliment and flatter, But what about maternity wear? Well I was lucky enough to pick two dresses from the beautiful Isabella Oliver summer range and wow! They are the higher end of the market and more premium maternity wear but they are so worth it! The fit it perfect, the style, the chooces! The packaging they came in! Here they are! I chose the navy dress for work as its smart and sophisticated yet super comfortable! ( and I love Navy!)
And of course the beautiful Leonie pink wrap around tea dress for those nice days out & afternoon teas!
Both Isabella Oliver dresses are the UK 14 and fit with plenty of room to grow not that Im hoping yo grow much more! 😂 and can be found on
www.isabellaolilver.com I have washed both dresses numerous times and they come out as new each time! Such high quality materials but the thing I love most about Isabella Oliver is for every purchase they will plant a tree in name of your “baby” how beautiful is that!!
Now this little store I discovered on Instagram and fell in love! Its called Happy Mama and I couldnt believe the prices! The dress pictured was a sale item but just £11! It washes well, it fits a dream and Its pretty to dress up or down! Honestly check them out mamas!! www.happymama.co.uk size 12 worn in photo,
So these are my top shops for maternity fashion this summer, along with George asda who had maternity jeans for just £10 online & gorgeous jumpsuits for £14! As well as Peacocks who have some lovely maxi dresses in at the moment!
Jeans Asda £10 under bump & top tank top F&F £4
Stripe dress £10 primark
Floral summery print dress george £14
Denim jacket £20 peacocks
Poppy dress £5 matalan sale!
Floral Maxi peacocks
So whats the point of this blog? It wasnt to show off images of myself but to create awareness that there are so many choices out there now for maternity wear and to create body positivity in pregnancy, Shoe off those bumps & curves, Embrace pregnancy & all the changes both postive and negative, I didnt last time and I do regret it a little, This time I even jumped into the deep end and had a maternity photoshoot almost naked! Lumps, bumps and all!
Happy pregnancies mummas! And a huge huge thank you to @isabellaoliver, @fandf @shopmatalan and @peacocks and @happymama for helping me find gorgeous items to showcase & enjoy during my pregnancy!
